Sofia Fits Web Portal for Blind (2006-06-04)
by Sofia News Agency
Bulgaria's state administration has made a breakthrough in Internet information for people with damaged sight.
On Sunday the Transport Ministry introduced a new version of its online portal, which includes audio files.
The novelty will allow blind people to receive varied information, including timesheets of public transportation, ticket prices, and more.
Thus the ministry became the first state authority to have such extras on its website.
But Minister Petar Mutafchiev said he hoped the portal would set an example for other institutions to follow soon.
Bulgaria has a lot to catch up with in terms of opportunities for sightless people, the minister says.
